Hey, everyone! Wow, I can’t believe it’s almost been two months since I landed in Costa Rica! I’m so thankful to be here, learning the sweet language of Spanish and experiencing the culture. Thank you for your prayers and support! I can certainly feel them. The transition was so smooth, and I settled in very quickly. I’ve developed some amazing relationships!
You might be wondering, what does my everyday life look like? Well, Monday to Friday, we have a devotional time at 8 am and then Spanish classes from 8:15 am to 12:10 pm. Generally, after classes, I have lunch and do my homework for the remainder of the afternoon. I’m so very thankful that I had a foundation in Spanish before I came! I got placed in a class with others who had been learning from the previous trimester. While I’m thankful for that, classes are harder than I thought. Some days I get overwhelmed by all the information, and there have been times when I thought I wasn’t going to remember anything. But God is good! Little by little, I understand more and am able to communicate more.
Last year, during my itineration (raising funds), I read a newsletter from some missionaries from my home church. They said, “Learning language is worship.” That has stuck with me. There are days when I don’t want to do my homework or I get frustrated, but then I remember that whatever I do, even now during language learning, it’s all for Him and His glory.

I also had an opportunity in January to minister to kids a few hours away from the city. It was awesome to spread the love of Jesus! We also had a long weekend a few weeks ago, and I was able to go to the beach. That was so much fun, and I saw some monkeys up close. The monkeys are called the "monkey mafia" because they steal stuff, which they did—taking gum from one of my missionary friends!
