Ministry in Costa Rica

Ministry in Costa Rica

About the Ministry:

Our ministry in Costa Rica will be two fold - Alcance Bible School and BFM

1.) Alcance Bible School

I’ll be joining the team at Alcance, a live-in Bible school in Sarapiquí, Costa Rica. The vision of Alcance is simple yet powerful:To raise up the next generation of pastors and make disciples.

This is the only Bible school in Central America that offers on-campus living. The program is designed to:F

  • Provide students with sound theology taught with excellence
  • Offer personalized and intentional discipleship for every student
  • Give hands-on training in every aspect of ministry
  • Develop vocational skills and a strong work ethic

The heartbeat of Alcance is to:

  1. Instill a passion for next-generation ministries (kids, youth, university)
  2. Impart a love for missions—praying, giving, and going
  3. Equip students with tools and passion for church planting
  4. Train leaders to pastor communities, not just churches

2.) Business for Missions

Students don’t pay tuition or lodging—so Alcance is designed to be self-sustaining through business. The model is "Business for Missions," and the students alternate between studying one trimester and working the next.

There are currently three businesses:

  • A coffee shop/restaurant
  • Airbnb-style lodging
  • A livestock/farming operation

The businesses serve three goals:

  1. Make Alcance financially self-sustaining
  2. Support local ministries
  3. Launch graduates into ministry and mission

 My Role

I’ll be primarily serving in the business side—managing and helping develop systems for each area, while also training and mentoring students in work ethic, practical skills, and using their talents for Jesus.

In addition, I’ll be involved in:

  • Student discipleship
  • Outreach programs (children’s ministry, local church plant)
  • Recruitment trips
  • Teaching English and business classes

This is a big step for me—campus ministry is new territory—but I’m excited and confident that this is the door God has opened for me. I feel honored to use my background in business for the Kingdom.
