Missionary in the Making...
Speaking to Cross Kids

Cross Kids

Over the past couple of Sundays, I’ve had the opportunity to share with the kids at Cross Assembly, my home church, across all campuses. What an honor it is to speak to these wonderful kids!

I shared with them the importance of missions and what I’ll be doing in Costa Rica. I even took them on an imaginary missions trip—and they loved it!

Kids ministry has always had a special place in my heart. Some might think that sharing the importance of missions with young kids isn’t effective or that they’re too young to understand. But my own missions journey began when I was just a kid.

Called to share Jesus

My parents were involved in a local missions organization when I was very young. Being exposed to missions so early stirred something in my heart.

Eventually, my parents went on to do other things in the community and local church, but that experience stuck with me until one very special day—the day the Lord spoke so clearly to me.

One evening, I spent time with the Lord and prayed for the world. All of a sudden, I felt this great sadness and burden in my heart for those who don’t know Jesus personally. I felt the Lord telling me to go back to the local evangelism organization, but this time, without my parents.

Local Evangelism in 2014

To paint you a little picture, I was 13 years old and the most antisocial person you would have ever met. When God told me to step out in faith and begin witnessing, I thought He had the wrong person.

I began to pray, “Lord, send someone else. I’m not the one for this job.”

I love the story of Moses in the Bible because I can relate to his back-and-forth with God. I thought, “God, there are much more social and outgoing people. Surely you can use them!”

But what I’ve learned over the years is that the more God pushes me out of my comfort zone, the closer I get to Him.

God Is SO Good

I love reflecting on just how awesome God is and how He has used me and grown me in so many ways. I’m so blessed to be used by God to carry out His commandment to go and make disciples.

And that’s why kids ministry matters so much.

We never know what God is doing in the heart of a child. The little boy or girl sitting in a kids ministry service today could be the next missionary, pastor, worship leader, evangelist, or someone God uses to change countless lives for His Kingdom.

When we teach kids about Jesus, missions, prayer, and what it means to follow Him, we may never immediately see the impact. But we are planting seeds. And God can take those seeds and use them in ways we could never imagine.

So, to every kids ministry volunteer, teacher, pastor, and parent who pours into the next generation: thank you. Keep going. What you’re doing matters.

You never know who the next missionary is.

And you never know if the child sitting in your class today will one day say, “Yes, Lord. Send me.”

No matter where I am, I want to continue spreading His good news and being His hands and feet. And I pray that the next generation will do the same.

Financial update

I’m currently 62% funded, and I need to reach 100% before I can go to Costa Rica!

I’m looking for monthly partners who would prayerfully consider joining me in the mission in Costa Rica. If God puts it on your heart to give, instructions are below.

When you partner with me, you aren’t just supporting me—you’re partnering with the ministry and the mission in Costa Rica. I need a total of $1,750 in monthly support before I can fly out, and my goal is to leave this fall!

Thank you so much for your prayers, financial support, and encouragement along the way. I’m so grateful for everyone who has already joined me in this journey. I truly couldn’t do this without you!

Would you prayerfully consider becoming a monthly partner?

Once all the animals are marked off, I'll be funded!
